“When colleagues believe in you, victory is easier” – Denitsa Yaramova, Besta Med

Besta Challenge is the only corporate multi-sport event in Bulgaria and is held for the third consecutive year.

It involves Besta Med employees from all departments to compete in a variety of sporting (and not only sporting) disciplines during 3 days: running, swimming, push-ups, darts, table tennis, PlayStation, pairs cooking cold soup made of yogurt and cucumbers (tarator), volleyball, etc.

This year we decided to look beyond the statistics of medals and achievements in the different disciplines and ask colleagues about their impressions and emotions during the multi-sport event in Sandanski at the end of June.

We introduce you to Denitsa Yaramova – a debutant in the Besta challenge. She started working in the medical division of our commercial department in November ’22, and in June ’23 she bravely stood at the starting line of our challenge.

Denitsa, did you expect that you would find yourself in a multi-sport challenge when you started work at Besta Med?

To be honest, I never expected that I would participate in such a multi-sport competition and I’m very happy to have had the opportunity to be a part of this amazing event. And even less did I expect to be in the top three of some of the events.

How did you do?

I think I did well, considering the fierce struggle and competition. There were colleagues who were very well prepared.

Which discipline did you enjoy the most?

All the disciplines were very interesting, but I personally liked the push-ups  the most. The fact is that they were a different type (WHAT TYPE) and it was challenging for me to handle them.

How did your friends react when you told them you were going to a multi-sport?

My friends know me pretty well and they know that I generally love sports, I love challenges, I don’t give up and I won’t give up until the end, no matter how hard it is.

They were sure I would succeed and get a medal, unlike myself. I often have a habit of underestimating myself.

Did you learn anything new about yourself during the competitions?

I learned that I need to believe in myself more, as my colleagues and friends believed in me and supported me to the end.

Are you a sports person or are you yet to develop these habits?

I dare say I am a sports person. I train at the Athletic Club every chance I get and I believe my victory is due to my training there.

I also love cycling. For me it is important to play sports because sports give discipline, confidence and tonus, and you relieve yourself that way .

I really hope that more people will start to be active in sport after this multi-sport competition.

What are your goals for the next competition?

For next year I am determined to enter more disciplines of the Besta Challenge and improve my success.
