Parallel imports of medicines is an effective solution in case of shortage of the national market – it is the solution for 62% of the cases of missing medicines, said Boryana Marinkova, Executive Director of the Bulgarian Association for Medicines Parallel Trade Development at the Conference “Access to Drug Therapy – Opportunities and Challenges”, which was held by the Capital in partnership with the Association of Research-Based Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (ARPharM), the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Union and Health PR in Sofia today. European statistics show that parallel distributors react as quickly as possible in such cases and can overcome the deficit on average for 3 weeks. The association develops a patient platform that directly alerts drug shortage by patients.
